A Tennessee non‑profit corporation, Tennessee Clinical Trials Network, Inc. (TCTN) seeks to promote human health through the enhancement, facilitation, and support of high‑qualilty, industry‑sponsored clinical research within the research community of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) and UT Medical Group, Inc. (UTMG), and among investigators across the State of Tennessee and the Mid‑South area. Through the use of TCTN's infrastructure clinical research investigators have access to a full spectrum of services that are centralized and coordinated to encourage communication and to eliminate duplication and fragmentation.
TCTN's services include:
- Study placement
- Study feasibilty assessment
- IRB (Institutional Research Boards) and regulatory guidance
- Comprehensive contract and budget review and negotiation
- Research billing compliance support and assistance
- Education and training initiatives
- Industry and institutional networking to increase clinical research activity
- Nurse Coordinator services
TCTN recently transitioned from the UTMG Office of Clinical Research to more appropriately reflect its mission and its future goals. Currently, TCTN services are available to investigators affiliated with UTMG. UTMG, a nonprofit corporation, is the primary group medical practice of the faculty physicians of the College of Medicine at UTHSC. Over time, investigators and research personnel in the other Departments within the College of Medicine and in other Colleges affiliated with the UTHSC, and other UTHSC campuses will have the opportunity to utilize the services of TCTN when conducting industry‑sponsored clinical research.
