History
UT Medical Group, Inc.(UTMG) is a not-for-profit, non-tax supported multispecialty physician practice with over 400 providers who are also on the faculty of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine.
Founded in 1974 as Faculty Medical Practice Corporation (FMPC). In 1983 FMPC was reorganized as University Physicians Foundation, Inc. achieving 501 (c) 3 non-profit status. The name was changed to UT Medical Group Inc. in 1990 to reflect its association with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
UTMG offers a wide range of primary care and specialty services for children and adults in several locations in Germantown and the Memphis Medical Center. Its team of physicians and other medical professionals also provide care at many hospitals and ambulatory clinics in the Mid-South.
In addition to providing state-of-the-art clinical services, the UT Medical Group staff has played a major role in the development and success of such programs as the neonatal and high-risk birth centers, trauma and burn units at The Regional Medical Center, the liver, kidney and pancreas transplant programs at Methodist University Hospital, and the heart center at Le Bonheur Children's Medical Center.
Many of UTMG's physicians consistently appear on the annual list of Best DoctorsTM.
