The UT Medical Group, Inc. Department of Anesthesiology is mostly comprised of board-certified anesthesiologists who provide care at The Regional Medical Center (The MED) and Methodist University Hospital.

Anesthesiology is the practice of administering medications to patients to avoid the sensations of pain during and following medical or surgical procedures. The procedures vary with each type of operation; the procedures and drugs needed for cancer surgery might be quite different from those needed for a mother delivering a healthy baby. The Anesthesiologists must not only be familiar with the medical procedure but must also be aware of the patient’s physical and mental status so that they can aid in making the procedure as safe and comfortable for the patient as possible.
