Cardiology
UT Medical Group, Inc.'s division of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine is comprised of physicians on the faculty of the University Of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis who offer both clinical and consultation services and are certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine Subspecialty Board on Cardiovascular Disease.
Our cardiologists offer clinical expertise and scientific insight to patients suffering from known or suspected heart disease. Our cardiologists are specialists in virtually every aspect of modern cardiology, including the management of the various forms of heart disease, the many risk factors, and complications.
Our patients benefit from having access to some of the most advanced therapies available, including conventional and investigational medications, interventional procedures, and implantable devices.
Among the services offered:
- Electrophysiology: this technology is used to diagnose and treat cardiac rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias) through the placement of electrodes inside the heart.
- Heart disease in pregnancy: an area of specialized care focusing on the unique stresses placed on the heart during pregnancy and the therapies that can be safely administered.
- Cardiac catheterization: a technology using a thin flexible tube (catheter) placed inside the heart for purposes of diagnostic examination or treatment. Cardiac catheters may be used to implant electrodes of a pacemaker, to administer a drug, or to unblock narrowed coronary arteries with balloon angioplasty and stents.
- Echocardiography: a diagnostic method using ultrasound to record and monitor the heart's movement.
Whether you are in need of specialized diagnosis and care of a medical condition, or you simply need an annual physical exam, UT Medical Group has doctors to meet your needs. Patient care is our first concern.
Often, illnesses affect many areas of the body and may require evaluation and treatment by several types of doctors. Our doctors can easily call on their colleagues in other specialties for consultation. Locations throughout the Memphis area make quality health care convenient to you and your family.
