Developmental Pediatrics
UT Medical Group, Inc.'s division of Developmental Pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics is comprised of physicians on the faculty of the University Of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis who offer both clinical and consultation services and are certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics emphasize psychosocial issues arising in the context of health care. They respond to issues via research, teaching, and practice with a special interest in the social, educational, and cultural influences on children and adolescents. Assessing family and societal factors, they help with the management of general health problems and their treatment, especially in regard to cognitive and adaptive abilities including language and learning disorders.
Developmental disorders include, among others, atypical behaviors such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, (ADHD), autism spectrum disorders, child abuse and neglect, elimination disorders, feeding and eating problems, motor disabilities, sexuality, spina bifida, sleep problems, and substance abuse.
