Pediatric Nephrology
UT Medical Group, Inc.'s Division of Nephrology in the Department of Pediatrics is comprised of physicians on the faculty of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis who offer both clinical and consultation services and are certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.Nephrology is the medical specialty concerned with the functioning and diseases of the kidneys. Kidney disease can include among others:
Anemia
Chronic renal failure,
Diabetes
Hypertension
Lupus, and Uremia. The two most common causes of kidney disease are diabetes and high blood pressure. Some kidney diseases result from hereditary factors; if your family has a history of any kind of kidney problems, you may be at risk for kidney disease. Doctors diagnose and treat Kidney disease using many different therapies among which are changing diet and lifestyle, medication and surgery, and dialysis.
