UT Medical Group Inc. plastic surgeon Dr. Jon Ver Halen will present the free seminar, Advances in Breast Reconstruction. “There are numerous available techniques, and the procedures can be tailored to fit nearly every patient’s needs,” he says.
One of the latest reconstructive techniques is the DIEP (Deep Inferior Epigastric Artery Perforator) free flap procedure. The DIEP technique leaves the patient’s abdominal muscles intact and reduces donor site pain and weakness, while allowing the patient's own tissue to be used for breast reconstruction. Dr. Ver Halen, who specializes in microvascular reconstructive techniques, is the only plastic and reconstructive surgeon in the Mid-South who provides the DIEP procedure.
Dr. Ver Halen will discuss DIEP and other breast reconstructive options at the free seminar, “Advances in Breast Reconstruction” on Tuesday, May 4 at 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at UTMG’s Germantown office, located at 7945 Wolf River Boulevard. To make a reservation, call 901-347-8276.
