About 3 million Americans have glaucoma, but many of them don’t know it because the disease has no noticeable symptoms or early warning signs. The best way to protect your vision is to have your eyes screened each year. The Friends of the Congressional Glaucoma Caucus Foundation will conduct free glaucoma screenings on Friday, January 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hamilton Eye Institute parking lot, 930 Madison Avenue in Memphis. Glaucoma is a leading cause of permanent blindness. Although there is no cure, early diagnosis and treatment can prevent further damage. Also there are several types of glaucoma. The following groups have the highest risk of developing glaucoma:
