Cradle Cap

Cradle cap is a scaly, crusting rash on the scalp (head). It is a common problem for babies.

    To help prevent cradle cap:

  • Wash your baby's hair with a mild body shampoo and water at least every other day. Scrub the scalp well with your fingers or a soft brush. This will not hurt your baby's soft spot.
  • Do not use any soap or oil on your baby's scalp. This causes drying and scaling.
  • Your baby's doctor may prescribe a special shampoo for you to use. Be sure to use it as directed.
